As the Project Commissioning Manager, you will ensure testing and commissioning activities for our HV infrastructure projects are effectively planned, coordinated, executed and managed to maximise safe, efficient and quality project delivery requirements. Here’s how:
- Using your interfacing and safety skills you will manage all testing and commissioning activities for high voltage substations and transmission lines throughout Queensland.
- You will manage the development of commissioning staging plans and prepare commissioning schedule for allocated projects.
- You will provide input to the outage management plan and prepare commissioning test plans.
- Manage all technical specifications for testing and pre-commissioning of contracts for works.
- Overall management of site pre-commissioning and final commissioning works for each stage of a project.
The community you will join:
Based in Brisbane, your role will see you assigned commissioning responsibilities for individual projects such as CopperString 2032. This Powerlink-led project initially involves building 840km of new electricity transmission line from just south of Townsville in the Burdekin region to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province (NWMP) to the National Electricity Market. Approximately 200km of additional transmission line will be required to connect new renewable generators to CopperString.
Powerlink progressed early works on the project in 2023 ahead of construction commencing in mid-2024. The project is expected to be completed by 2029.
Your expertise:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent recognised by IEAust)
- Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor or Technology or equivalent combined with relevant industry experience is desirable.
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) is desirable.
- Demonstrated considerable experience working in a high voltage environment, particularly substations, secondary systems, transmission lines performing commissioning tasks.
- Demonstrated significant experience in planning and organising detailed engineering projects.
We’d also love you to have:
- Experience working with contracts in a design, construct and test environment
- Experience in providing technical advice to operational or project delivery teams within medium to large technical organisations
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong, productive relationships with key stakeholders to achieve common operational goals
- Demonstrated experience in use of document management and drawing management processes
