The Role:
The Project Controls Manager will oversee a team responsible for cost control, planning and risk management within the infrastructure space. This role will develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules and risk management plans, with a strong emphasis on financial and schedule performance. You will interact closely with various departments, influencing decision-making to ensure project success.
Key objectives include:
- Driving standard cost control procedures.
- Maintaining project cost reporting and conducting analysis to provide insights and recommendations.
- Advanced skills in project management, communication, negotiation, commercial/contractual management, risk management, leadership and planning/scheduling.
The Person
The ideal candidate for this role will possess a strong background in Project Controls management, including cost control, planning and risk management. They will data driven and possess advanced skills in earned value management, financial analysis, and stakeholder engagement, alongside strong leadership capabilities to drive collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Key competencies:
- Ability to effectively manage large-scale renewable energy projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, ability to speak to stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- Proven ability to negotiate favourable terms and agreements with suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual principles, with the ability to interpret and negotiate complex contracts and manage variations.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, including cost forecasting, budget management and variance analysis.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Formal qualification in Engineering, Construction, Commerce or related tertiary qualification.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Energy, including experience gained from working within Infrastructure.
- Relevant management experience in Project Controls – planning, cost budgeting and forecasting.
- Current drivers licence.
- The ability to do some out of hours work.
- The ability to travel inter and intra state on occasion.
