Duties & Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will assist the Oceaneering Offshore Project Group (OPG) with the design, planning and execution of offshore projects, encompassing activities from initial contact with clients through proposal input, concept/ FEED, detailed engineering and planning, procurement/ manufacture to execution. Typical activities will support work scopes that include but are not limited to engineered solutions, light construction, diving and inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR). The role will be based in Angola on a rotational basis, reporting to the Engineering Lead.

Functions

ESSENTIAL

• Carries out tasks as assigned by the Engineering Lead. Tasks generally focus on technical issues but sometimes require administrative and project management functions.

• Work closely with Project Manager(s) to meet all project objectives, schedules, deliverables, and milestones.

• Co-responsible for the engineering of subsea equipment, including development, evaluation, engineering, design, controls, procurement, and construction phases of project implementation to ensure project completion as efficiently and effectively as possible.

• Responsible for creating and reviewing engineering procedures and specifications for compliance with design principles, applicable standards, and customer requirements.

• Prepares design changes, specifications, schematics, and test plans for subsea equipment. This may include locating equipment and assisting with vendor selection.

• Review and/or conduct engineering calculations and analysis.

• Prepare engineering documents, including operation, maintenance, test, offshore procedures, task plans and storyboards.

• Review product designs, conduct and attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and System Integration Tests (SIT).

• Prepare presentations, articles, and technical papers.

• Interface with Document Control, Design Analyst and Design/Drafters during project work.

• Interface inside and outside a meeting setting with project team members and Clients.

• Can perform non-engineering activities such as oversight of offshore operations and on-site oversight of OPG projects and subcontractors.

• Work and travel onshore and offshore internationally. Predominantly in Angola.

Supervisory Responsibilities

§ This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Reporting Relationship

§ Reports to the Engineering Lead

§ May take direction from Sr. Engineers and Project Managers

Qualifications

REQUIRED

§ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Structural, Mechanical, Civil or Ocean Engineering)

§ Minimum five (5) years relevant experience.

§ Knowledge of MathCAD, 3D CAD, 2D AutoCAD;

§ Ability to travel internationality for work scopes

§ Valid passport

§ Must be able to obtain:

o Seamen's book

o Petroleum Education Council (PEC) Basic Training

o Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)

DESIRED

§ Experience with ROV/Subsea equipment/subsea installation design and engineering

§ Prior experience working Internationality

§ Experience with conflict resolution and change management

§ MS Office

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

• Ability to work in a team environment, remain attentive to ideas, recognise responsibilities, and actively participate in accomplishing assignments and achieving desired goals.

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, calculus, probability, and statistics.

• Ability to apply these concepts to engineering applications including but not limited to statics, dynamics, solid mechanics, the strength of materials, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural design, mechanical design, and electrical design.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardisation.

• Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Ensures that important information from management is shared with employees and others as appropriate.

• Gives and receives constructive feedback.

• Ensures that others involved in a project or effort are kept informed about developments and plans.

• Ensures that regular and consistent communication takes place within the area of responsibility.
