Position Summary:
The Smart Energy Specialist (Project / Sales Engineer) is responsible for designing, selling, implementing, and managing smart energy solutions, particularly focused on grid-connected PV systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for commercial projects. This role combines sales engineering and project management to deliver effective energy solutions and ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Engineering:
- Design grid-connected PV systems and BESS for commercial projects according to CEC guidelines.
- Develop electrical models and grid-connected designs using AutoCAD.
- Prepare and present technical proposals and tenders with site-specific conditions for potential stakeholders.
- Develop feasibility studies, PV Systems energy statements, and models for state DNSPs as part of grid connect requests.
- Channel Manager to the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) provider, responsible for technical development and generation estimates throughout the quoting and delivery process.
- Develop system performance guarantee checks.
- Project Management:
- Lead process development and optimization for the commercial Solar operations team, which includes 5 Project Engineers and a project manager.
- Run the weekly commercial progress report for BAU (Business As Usual) projects with the internal sales team.
- Produce and emphasize key areas of team improvement in monthly management meetings.
- Assist existing clients in troubleshooting system failures and investigating system under-performance to ensure electrical compliance.
- Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, wholesalers, subcontractors, and business owners to facilitate smooth workflow.
- Work with internal teams, clients, and external partners to ensure effective project delivery.
- Procure equipment to ensure the best possible quality, value, and continuity of supply.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Audit SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis) of contractors.
- Ensure WHSE (Work Health, Safety, and Environment) compliance throughout project delivery.
- Review SWMS, construction and safety plans, and risk management registers of contractors.
- Perform QA (Quality Assurance) audits of installed systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional certification in energy management is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in energy management, renewable energy, or a related field.
- Proficiency in energy management software and tools, including AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sales experience, preferably in the energy sector.
