ABOUT THE ROLE
An opportunity for an experienced and motivated BMS project and Controls Engineer to join the design and engineering team has arisen.
The preferred candidate will be required to have a working knowledge of; Tridium Niagara platform N4 and AX, Johnson Controls Facility Explorer, Distech Controls and typical industry design workflows and project cycles.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpretation of specifications and equipment data; set design parameters, generate design documentation including point schedules, valve/damper schedules, bill of materials and selection, functional description, network schematics and control drawings.
- Design and implementation of BMS technical solution for the project, based on Tridium N4 framework.
- Design solutions for integration with 3rd party systems, including; electrical, hydraulic, fire, vertical transport, security, IT and other systems via LLI or HLI (BACnet, MODBus, LON etc.).
- Design of IP Networks / ICT system configurations to support the proposed solution.
- Programming the Building Management System (Tridium N4) and DDC’s (Johnson Controls FX and Distech) to meet the functional description and specification requirements.
- Onsite commissioning (where applicable) of the BMS to ensure full operation as per functional description and specification.
- Quality assurance and review of documentation and drawings prior to submission for approval on construction projects.
- Attend site visits, inspections and participate in building services integration and tuning meetings.
- Internal innovation and development projects with the Engineering Manager to develop software platforms and evaluate new products for their suitability.
- Supporting Project Managers to develop alternative solutions during change order or value management processes.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Preferred bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering and/or Computer Science (equivalent industry experience will be considered).
- Tridium Niagara AX/N4 certification (advantageous).
- Experience in Tridium Niagara AX/N4.
- Experience in Johnson Controls Facility Explorer OR Distech Controls.
- Experience HVAC control and DDC programming, covering; BACnet, LonWorks and MODbus protocols.
- Experience in HVAC BMS and DDC design and engineering role, understanding of BMS design workflows, equipment selections and operation.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC and control theory. (advantageous)
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML or Python (advantageous).
- The candidate will be required to demonstrate Tridium Niagara proficiency with:
- Station and database creation, user privileges, a hierarchy system, category service configuration, use of program service, advanced BQL, basic interpretation Java line coding/scripting.
- Strong knowledge of IT fundamentals and frameworks, including; networks and configuration, wireless networks, cybersecurity (advantageous), Microsoft Windows 10 and Server knowledge.
- Professional, confident, well-spoken, ability to communicate effectively and competent in English.
