Our client is a Government statutory corporation that is responsible for supplying the state's bulk water needs, operating the state's river systems and dams, and the bulk water supply system for Greater Sydney.
About the Role
The Project Manager will manage the planning and delivery of a portfolio of Capital Works Projects for outside of Sydney. Majority of the work is on civil based structures and the Project Manager is ultimately accountable for the successful delivery of the individual projects.
Mandatory Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years professional experience in Project Management (preferably in asset based projects) and managing end to end projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and practical application of PMBOK or Prince 2 methodologies.
- Civil or mechanical engineering background to undertake a number of renewal projects, particularly the Hume Dam, and also other structures.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements as they relate to the delivery of capital projects.
- Experience in successfully managing contracts, consultant engagements and contractors to efficiently and effectively deliver desired outcomes.
- Ability to assess safety and other risk exposures and proactively manage these across project lifecycles.
- Lead and engage others in all aspects of the change process aligned to delivery of new assets or systems.
- Proven ability to manage a range of different stakeholders and their potentially conflicting needs to obtain agreement on actions and outcomes.
- Plans work and deploys resources to deliver results considering change requirements.
- Strong commercial acumen to identify benefits, opportunities and trade-offs to be made when formulating and executing business cases, project plans and contract negotiations.
- Tertiary Qualification (bachelor level or above) in Project Management or Engineering or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Government experience preferred.
- Experience with water or dams preferred.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence.
- Post Graduate qualifications in project management or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and contractor management and contractual dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated knowledge and extensive high-level experience and understanding of the technical investigation, design, environmental assessment, construction and operation of dams, pipelines, aqueducts, canals pumping stations and other water supply infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering a portfolio of projects (preferably from a client perspective) and/or delivery of standalone or portfolio of projects valued in excess of $5m meeting time, quality and cost targets.
