Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
We are looking for a Project Manager to lead a broad and exciting range of Energy Efficiency initiatives across our mining operations as we work towards transitioning our mines to zero. The role will focus on the identification, scoping and delivery of capital and opex projects and initiatives with a specific requirement to deliver a year on year emissions reduction of 5% across our Hematite mines.
The scope of the improvements requires a Project Manager capable of operating across a large stakeholder group, comprised of diverse technical and operational teams that all need to collectively align and support initiatives that reduce our energy footprint without compromising our throughput delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize analytical insights and operational feedback to meticulously evaluate and drive forward initiatives aimed at reducing fuel consumption across our expansive mining operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee the holistic aspects of project management, including defining objectives, scoping, timelines, securing funding, and assembling appropriate staffing resources.
  • Establish clear project milestones, adeptly manage unforeseen delays, and recalibrate schedules and expectations as necessary to ensure project continuity.
  • Create and execute comprehensive communication strategies, providing regular status updates to affected staff and stakeholders, fostering transparency and engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate and supervise the successful execution of projects, ensuring alignment with overarching goals.
  • Support teams in the effective implementation of changes and verify that deliverables meet stringent quality standards.
  • Cultivate an environment of productivity, fostering a sense of ownership among team members for the product and nurturing an enjoyable work atmosphere.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously with a strong emphasis on managing and prioritizing an extensive workload.
  • Proficiency in dissecting and simplifying complexities to provide clear and pragmatic directives.
  • Effective communication skills in conveying opportunities with well-substantiated recommendations.
  • Over three years of hands-on experience in managing personnel, overseeing deliverables, and defining project scopes.
  • Extensive operational background spanning over three years within an open-cut mining environment.
  • Profound understanding of project management principles and adeptness in strategic planning.
  • Strong analytical acumen, logical thinking, and adept problem-solving capabilities.
  • Capability to motivate groups and drive timely project completion.
  • Proven experience in data analysis to draw pertinent business conclusions, coupled with expertise in data visualization techniques and tools.
