The role

In collaboration with Genetic Screening Service and the Assistant Director of Midwifery within the Women’s and Children’s services the Project Midwife/Nurse Newborn Screening Expansion role:

  • Leads the coordination and management of the expansion.
  • Ensures that the performance milestones, actions, and objectives of the expansion project are achieved.
  • Monitors the quality of samples obtained.
  • Provide regular progress reports as requested, utilising the National standard documents.
  • Develops and maintains professional and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing clinical advice and consultancy services regarding project activities, outcomes, and solutions.
  • Develops strategies, policies and plans and ensure that the preterm project initiatives align with Departmental policies, procedures, core business functions and relevant legislation.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, part time, day worker position working 48 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for approximately two (2) years. 

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary:

$111,506 to $118,336 pro-rata per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type 
  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum 
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife/Nurse
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate tertiary qualification

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
