About the opportunity
The Tasmanian Engagement team is looking for a people focused, driven and flexible Project Officer for their Educational Outreach programs.
The Project Officer, Educational Outreach will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of high impact programs for school students. Working alongside a small team, this role will manage science outreach programs including Young Tassie Scientists and UTAS Derby, and be responsible for stakeholder management, project coordination, reporting and budget management.
The successful candidate will have strong communications and stakeholder relationship skills, project management experience, and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a small team. A background in Science or Science communication (either study or professional experience) would be advantageous.
The role will be required to attend out of hours activities, be able to spend periods of time travelling intrastate, and spend time at all University campuses and locations.
What you’ll do:
Project manage the Young Tassie Scientist program including recruitment of volunteer scientists, coordinate delivery of a training program, maintaining the website, and schedule school visits.
Manage the University of Tasmania Derby program including liaising with schools, distributing kits, collecting feedback and ongoing evaluation.
Manage program budgets and funding.
Support the delivery of School Engagement activities on campus.
Contribute to reports about outreach activity to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Support the Tasmania Engagement team at key events including Open Days.
What we’re looking for:
A degree with relevant professional experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience or education and training.
Strong organisation and time-management skills with a demonstrated ability to work with competing demands and changing work priorities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently influence outcomes at all levels of organisations, and liaise with people of various skills, experience, and background to achieve win-win outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as the capacity to work independently with initiative.
A background in science or science communication (either study or professional experience) would be advantageous.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $110,273 comprising base salary within the range of $86,918 to $94,250 plus 17% superannuation.
