Are you passionate about fostering community decision-making and improving health and well-being? We are looking for a dedicated Project Officer to join Healthy Together program. This role focuses on genuine community engagement, bringing people together to address local health priorities and create sustainable solutions. You will work under general guidance to support and expand networks, coordinate actions across initiatives, and promote health literacy and mental well-being. The aim is to foster healthier, more informed, and resilient communities by addressing diverse health determinants and promoting sustainable, healthy lifestyles.

About the role:

  • Promote the vision, strategy, and initiatives of Health Together across Southern Midlands communities
  • Build trust and foster shared decision-making within the communities
  • Assist with developing, coordinating, and implementing of campaigns, promotions, communications, and events for Healthy Together as directed by the community
  • Communicate key milestones and relevant content to foster community connections
  • Build community engagement and partnerships with local community members and key stakeholders
  • Develop a reference/advisory group that includes representatives from communities and service providers
  • Support communities in creating marketing materials for programs and events.
  • Maintain and update mailing lists of key community members, service providers, and stakeholders
  • Regularly check in with reference/advisory group members and provide updates
  • Create opportunities for reflection, learning, and open information sharing
  • Seek new members and champions to grow connections within the Southern Midlands community, including schools, sports clubs, church groups, and local businesses

About you:

  • Relevant administrative/promotional qualifications or experience
  • At least one year’s relevant work experience, ideally a community-based position
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships.
  • An understanding about the Southern Midlands, it’s strengths and challenges.
  • An understanding of the principals of place-based community-led practice
  • Current police check (less than 6 months old) and Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration, or ability to acquire.
  • Full driving licence and own transport
  • Completed or willing to complete Child Safe Modules
