Georgina Martina Inc (GMI) is a leading specialist in the provision of evidence-based domestic and family violence services and support.
We are a not-for-profit community-based organisation providing support and emergency accommodation for victim-survivors experiencing domestic and family violence. We operate high security refuges and domestic and family violence services.
GMI’s suite of policies and procedures govern our organisation and support operations. To ensure best practice and meet accreditation requirements, they are reviewed every three years. The changing landscape and the expansion of GMI operations has seen a proliferation of policies and procedures. We require a skilled policy and procedures writer for a 12-month fixed term contract to undertake a holistic view of all policies and procedures. This will include responding to staff, stakeholder and accreditation agency feedback around separating out policies and procedures documentation to better serve the organisation.
Requirement of Position
- We are seeking a suitably experienced person to review and update all policies and procedures and develop a framework for managing them into the future.
- We require a person with excellent verbal and written communication skills to work alongside the Team.
- Have an ability to work independently and ensure that all required policies are included and meet with legislation.
- Able to gain quick rapport with the team confident in facilitating group work to discuss best practice.
- Knowledge of community sector, FV would be an advantage.
GMI is a Family violence specialist organisation that provide crisis accommodation and support to victim survivors of family violence. We have recently transitioned from a communal model to two newly developed Core and Cluster Crisis accommodation sites that have been purpose-built.
We are a learning organisation and provide above award conditions, training, supervision, staff mentoring and staff development opportunities.
We have two major projects underway; Rainbow Tick Accreditation (by the end of 2024) and are currently completing our first RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan).
Both these projects will have overlap, so you will liaise and work alongside that Projects Officer (Special Projects) to ensure that our policies and procedures reflect our new eligibility criterion (to accept culturally diverse, woman and /or trans and gender diverse, LGBTQI+, Mature Age or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds) into our service.
A brief has been developed with timelines, that can be followed and inform the successful candidate’s development of a project plan to deliver this important work.
