The purpose of Homes Melbourne is to improve housing outcomes across the housing spectrum in the City of Melbourne.
Homes Melbourne will strive to ensure people have access to safe, high-quality housing, close to jobs and services to ensure Melbourne is safe and inclusive, accessible and affordable, and economically prosperous into the future.The Principal Project Officer is responsible for delivering major projects, developing policies and leading advocacy efforts to increase the supply of affordable housing across the municipality. The role will build internal capacity of the organisation, establish and maintain stakeholder relationships and communicate key issues and opportunities to community and other stakeholders.We are seeking a new team member who has a passion for Affordable Housing and will make a difference for our city and its people.The Principal Project Officer will lead and work productively with internal and external senior stakeholders and contribute to key business planning processes, corporate reporting, policy development and the delivery of Council reports and briefing papers. What you will bring…( Selection Criteria) All CoM employees will demonstrate an ability to articulate and demonstrate City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence. In addition the position will require
- Qualification to degree level in social science, architecture, planning economics, urban planning or eligibility for affiliate membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
- Substantial experience in strategic planning and policy development, and ability to devise innovative and practical recommendations to resolve issues and progress affordable housing goals in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Proven analytical and conceptual skills, and demonstrated experience in solving complex problems
- Demonstrated major project management and project delivery skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation, verbal communication and presentation skills in sensitive environments and proven ability to influence positive outcomes.
- Proven experience managing issues within a highly political and complex environment.
