About the team

The Business Development team supports Wesfarmers’ objectives through its activities across M&A origination and execution, corporate planning and high-value strategic projects across the Wesfarmers Group.

What you’ll do

  • Apply your commercial and financial acumen to a wide variety of projects and transactions, working closely with senior leaders across the Group
  • Work with Wesfarmers’ businesses to develop solutions to address the Group’s most pressing business problems
  • Utilise your understanding of commercial and financial value drivers along with your knowledge of relevant concepts across M&A, commercial and strategic projects
  • Lead workstreams and guide analysts on projects
  • Establish strong and effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute your knowledge and experience in developing team members

What you’ll need

  • Significant experience in evaluating and executing investment opportunities and growth strategies
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience, likely in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, accounting, transaction advisory or corporate development
  • Curiosity and an ability to think creatively to identify and analyse potential growth opportunities (for both new investments and existing businesses)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (including leading specific workstreams or projects), using your leadership skills to influence outcomes
  • Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills which enable you to communicate complex concepts simply and effectively
  • A desire to develop your skills and experience whilst in Business Development, providing a platform for you to take further career steps within the Wesfarmers Group
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Commerce, Economics, Engineering or Law)

Join the team at Corporate Office which provides support and advice across the Wesfarmers Group

The Corporate Office provides corporate services and support to the autonomous businesses within the Wesfarmers Group, enabling the achievement of Group objectives. It leads capital allocation and portfolio management for the Group and focuses on leveraging and enhancing the Group’s reputation to support attraction and retention of talent, securing investment opportunities and maintaining a low-cost capital. To do this, we need great people, working together and role modelling our values and ways of working.
