About the role
The Project Quality Manager will oversee the management of quality activities on major projects within the Australian shipbuilding business. This role ensures that Project Quality obligations are met and that quality activities align with both program and functional objectives, as well as the broader objectives of the Australian business. The Quality Manager is accountable for managing project policies, plans, and procedures effectively, ensuring that the products and services delivered meet the required standards of quality and compliance.
Key objectives & responsibilities include:
Key Accountabilities
- Provide Quality Leadership on major projects undertaken within the Australian shipbuilding business.
- Develop and implement Project Quality Plans, consistent with the Austal Quality Management System (QMS), tailored where necessary to meet the needs of assigned projects and or programs of work.
- Manage, review and monitor: i) Project compliance to Quality Management System and project specific requirements and ii) Product non-conformance in accordance with prescribed standards.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate Project Quality risks.
- Continuously review and improve project processes to improve business operations and the quality of Austal supplied products.
- Provide support and guidance to assigned Project and Quality teams to deliver Austal Quality Assurance best practice – within assigned areas of responsibility.
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
Essential Skills and Experiences
- Hold a Construction safety induction (white card).
- Diploma or higher qualification in a Quality Assurance, Business Management, Engineering, or other related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Quality Management role.
- Lead auditor training (Nationally Accredited).
Desirable Skills and Experiences
- Proven Project Management experience and or Project Management Qualification.
- Qualification in Lean Manufacturing/TQM or Six Sigma.
- Recognised training qualification in root cause analysis.
