PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Studco Building Systems are leaders in manufacturing innovative metal building systems for the wall and ceiling segment of the construction industry. From humble beginnings in 1986 as a steel stud rollformer in Melbourne, Australia, Studco has developed into a truly global manufacturer of premium building systems for the commercial and residential construction industry. Our customers succeed because of our superior solutions, intelligence and value.
As Project Sales Engineer, you will provide technical engineering support and advice to internal and external stakeholders for Studco’s range of light gauge steel products and be responsible for the technical design management for major projects across Adelaide.
You will liaise directly with customer site personnel including site contractors and builders via phone, email and on-site visits, to answer technical queries, collate key engineering design request information and further provide engineered design solutions in a prompt manner.
Fundamental to your success is being able to interpret incoming engineering enquiries from clients, design a compliant solution to the nominated standard from scratch using your engineering expertise and proprietary calculators, liaise with sales staff and CAD staff, document the solution in a clear and concise manner that is understandable by non-engineers, and file and record your workings in an orderly manner. Your designs and solutions will often be critically peer-reviewed by third party engineers and you must be prepared to fully support your proposed solution.
Most enquiries will relate to external walls, internal walls, ceilings and facades in a range of buildings including high-rise apartments, low-rise residential, hospitals, stadiums, office complexes and shopping centres. And whilst the questions predominantly involve structural design, there is a need to also have a basic understanding of related design criteria such as fire, acoustic and energy efficiency properties.
Studco is known within the industry for its high level of customer service and support and the success of this position relies heavily on having the right attitude towards serving our clients and having a genuine desire to solve the client’s problems. Clients you will be liaising with include builders, site contractors, engineers, architects and Studco authorised resellers.
Formal structural engineering qualifications are mandatory with further skills in light gauge cold form engineering preferred.
You will be vital player on Studco’s National Sales Team and will be joining one of the fastest growing, most dynamic companies in the industry. A willingness to learn, a preparedness to push yourself to play in an industry-leading team, and a 100% commitment to the Studco Strategic Objectives will make you successful in this position.
