Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Provisional Fellow in Obstetrics at RPA Women and Babies
What you will be doing:
This position is open to suitably qualified applicants who have passed the written and oral component of the RANZCOG examination at the time of the interview or holding Membership or equivalent with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRANZCOG).
The clinical duties of the position include working in ‘high risk’ antenatal clinics, the delivery ward and the Obstetric Day Assessment Unit. There is a focus on supporting and supervising junior medical staff. Administrative responsibilities include assisting with the organisation of elective caesareans and the Obstetric Morbidity and Mortality meetings. There will be opportunity to develop further skills in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound, high risk obstetrics, and general gynaecology. There may be a requirement to attend clinics and/or gynaecology operating lists at more than one hospital within Sydney Local Health District.
RPA Women and Babies
Is a Level 6 Maternity hospital with low risk and high risk obstetric clinics including but not limited to the following: Breech, Hypertension, Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, Birth After Caesaren section, Medical Obstetric, and Preterm Birth Clinics. RPA Women and Babies has JMO rotations to both Canterbury and Concord Hospitals. It is also the largest public gynaecology service in NSW providing training in general gynaecology and all the recognised subspecialties
Where you will be working:
The Obstetric Fellow is based at Royal Prince Alfred but may undertake clinics or operating sessions at either Canterbury or Concord Hospital

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Full APHRA registration.
- Have successfully passed both written and oral examinations for the Fellowship of RANZCOG (FRANZCOG) specialist training program.
- Minimum of 4 years training in the RANZCOG ITP program with at least 2 years training in a tertiary referral hospital with level V neonatal facilities.
- Ability to communicate with women and their families.
- Ability to work as part of a medical team.
- Ability to take responsibility and initiative and administrative experience or talent.
- Interest and ability to partake in teaching program and ability to conduct research or a quality assurance program.
