Learn more about our network here:Employment Type: Temporary Full TimePosition Classification: JMO Provisional FellowRemuneration: Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) AwardHours Per Week: 38Requisition ID: REQ478536The Department of Paediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, within The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, provides a wide range of surgical services to children, including cleft and craniofacial surgery as well as the management of trauma and burns. The Provisional Fellow position is available for up to 12 months for the 2025 Clinical Year, commencing from 03 February 2025.The purpose of the Provisional Fellow position is to:1. Provide effective service to paediatric patients with increasing autonomy while developing expertise in paediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery practise, in a complex clinical environment;2. Assist in ensuring that the service provided to patients and their families in New South Wales and beyond is of the highest quality, sustainable, flexible and transparent;3. Develop clinical proficiency in the care of children with complex health problems;4. Provide an opportunity for the development of clinical and leadership skills in the spheres of clinical care, education and research with the support of consultant and other health care professionals.Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Passed General Surgical Science Examination.
- Demonstrated commitment to a future career involving Paediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and demonstrated commitment to its application.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.
- Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development; demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of, Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.
- Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research proposal.
- Demonstrated contribution to the development of hospital services e.g. participation in Paediatric Junior Staff matters, representation on behalf of the Hospital, participation in Hospital Committees preferable.
