Global Medics have partnered with Illawarra/ Shoalhaven Health District assisting to fill their Psychiatry Registrar rotations The Unaccredited Trainee Positions are primarily based out of Wollongong Hospital.
Wollongong is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra Mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill. South lie the Buddhist temple of Nan Tien and Lake Illawarra, a large lagoon with boating and fishing facilities.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
To provide effective Mental Health services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in psychiatric practice, in a complex clinical environment. You will be based in the Illawarra region providing a variety of experiences in psychiatry in both hospital and community settings.
The position of Unaccredited Trainee would suit a junior doctor of at least 2 years post graduate experience who wishes to gain clinical experience and training in Psychiatry prior to formal critical care training. The Unaccredited Trainee will participate in a seven-day per week roster which includes evening and night shifts and will demonstrate proficiency in the initial assessment and management of all medical and surgical emergencies in paediatric and adult patients.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Eligible on the Competent Authority Pathway
- Minimum two years post graduate experience
