Correctional Centres and Community Corrections

Location - John Morony and Dillwynia located at Windsor, MRRC located at Silverwater and MSPC located at Malabar (Custody roles) and Windsor, Fairfield and City (Community roles)

Employment type - Existing Ongoing and Temporary opportunities plus Talent Pool for future opportunities

Salary - $74,302.00pa - $130,530.00pa plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About the Company

The Department of Communities and Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety. It serves a key function of the NSW Communities and Justice Sector by providing effective, safe and humane management of offenders both in custody and in the community CSNSW also works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that offenders and their families are supported.

What you'll do

  • Delivering assessments and interventions to people who offend and/or are on remand.
  • Providing expert consultation to staff regarding offender mental health and risk management (including sexual and violent offender assessment).
  • Maintaining concise documents and notes on offenders receiving psychological services and programs.
  • Preparing reports, advice and consultations.
  • Attending professional development and networking opportunities including the annual Psychological Conference.

What we're looking for

• Minimum four year accredited qualification in psychology with current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.

• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW.

*Appointment as a Specialist Psychologist

Applicants seeking appointment as a Specialist Psychologist in addition to the key knowledge and experience and essential requirements, must demonstrate proven experience at adapting relevant literature, and experience at resolving complex clinical problems. Additionally, they must hold a post-graduate degree at the masters level or higher in a relevant specialist area including but not limited to clinical psychology, forensic psychology, counselling psychology or neuropsychology.

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:

• National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014

• Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012

Other Information

CSNSW is current reviewing the way that Services and Programs staff work with roles dedicated to work in either a correctional centre or a community corrections location. You may be reassigned to a different location as part of the implementation of the new operating and service delivery models. If you are reassigned to a community role, the payment of the environmental allowance will cease.

A talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.
