About the service
Our Mental Health Drugs & Alcohol Service provides integrated and recovery oriented Mental Health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, Mental Health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.
About the Facility
The new McKellar Mental Health & Wellbeing Unit was developed in considered response to the Royal Commission and commenced operations in September 2022. It is a contemporary designed facility with a co-designed model of care that is recovery oriented and trauma informed. This 16 bed unit provides specialised Mental Health care for older adults (50 years +), including those with complex Mental Health and general health co-morbidities, with onsite facilities for outpatient appointments.
About you
- Registration with AHPRA as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2)
- Medication endorsement
- Committed to providing Recovery Orientated service delivery
- Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 and its amendments
- Previous experience in acute Mental Health nursing
- Sound knowledge of current psychiatric principles and practices
About the role
As the Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse, you will work under the supervision of the Registered Psychiatric Nurse and team leader. Duties include but are not limited to:
Providing high quality, best practice direct delivery of psychiatric treatment and care to consumers
Being part of the multidisciplinary team operating from a Recovery Orientated perspective
Demonstrating respect for individual's values, customs and spiritual beliefs to ensure patient care is effective and culturally appropriate
