The City Activation, Community and Place department supports a vibrant and inclusive City with thriving, resilient communities. In this role, you will join a passionate, outcomes-driven team focused on supporting a thriving City for all.

About the role

Casual - Public Activities and Events Crew will work closely with staff in the Place & Activation Team to ensure events are well managed and safe by providing generalist on the ground support such as site preparation, technical support such as bump in and out, site and event supervision, running community activities as well as community engagement.

Public Activities and Events Crew will sit within the Place & Activation Team reporting to the Place & Activation Program Manager. Crew Members may be deployed to other City Activation, Community & Place programs as required. The City Activation, Community & Place Department sits within the City Futures Division that looks at all aspects of planning and delivering a better city for all residents now and into the future.

Essential criteria

  • Previous experience working on public activations, events and festivals, audio/lighting, venue management or recreation programs
  • High quality communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to perform manual labour as required, including ability to lift and manoeuvre weight up to 16kg
  • Ability to use basic tools, lighting equipment, trolleys and other special equipment
  • Basic knowledge of power and cable management and general technical know-how
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of programs
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence

Desirable criteria

  • Relevant industry qualification in events management, live production, stage management, sound engineering (or currently working to obtain)
  • Experience in face-to-face community engagement with a variety of different stakeholders
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain

Advertised salary: $35.89 - $41.55 per hours, plus 25% casual loading where applicable.
