The Public Health Clinician – Rheumatic Fever Strategy role will support the Rheumatic Fever Strategy Program Lead to implement clinical activities within the program across East Arnhem Land. This full time fixed-term position is till 30 June 2025, is based in Darwin or Nhulunbuy NT with regular travel required to MHAC health centres located across East Arnhem Land.

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.
Essential Requirements
The Public Health Clinician – Rheumatic Fever Strategy will be responsible for providing clinical outreach for ARF/RHD/RFS clients, health education, workforce training and project roll outs to support to Miwatj’s community. Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ experience working in a remote Indigenous context and current Registration and Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner through AHPRA. They will also have an understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination, and the issues faced by Yolŋu people living in remote settings.
