Join one of the Most Unique and Challenging Security Initiatives in the Northern Territory

Are you ready to be part of a team that tackles some of the most challenging security issues in the Northern Territory? The Northern Territory Public Order Response Unit is expanding, and we're seeking individuals with the skills and mindset to join on this journey.

Role Overview: As a member of the Public Order Response Unit (PORU), you will work alongside various stakeholders to mitigate incidents of antisocial behaviour in various locations throughout the Northern Territory. Your role will require effective communication skills, a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, and a strong commitment to assisting vulnerable members of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and manage incidents of antisocial behaviour promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for crime prevention and community safety.
  • Relay relevant legislation and maintain a professional demeanour in high-pressure situations.
  • Provide support and assistance to individuals in need, particularly those facing vulnerability or crisis.
  • Provide support to local businesses in areas of operation when required

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations.
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation and protocols related to law enforcement or security.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to community service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Resilience and adaptability in high-stress environments.
  • Current Advanced First Aid Certificate
  • Current NT Ochre Card (Working with Children Card)
  • Certificate 2 in Security Operations or the ability to obtain
  • Current NT Drivers License
  • Ability to complete and pass a drug and alcohol screening assessment
  • Ability to complete and pass fitness testing and Psychological testing
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Experience with industry specific software 

Desirable

  • A background in Defence, law enforcement, corrections or similar governmental agencies
  • Current NT Security/Crowd Control License or ability to obtain
  • Experience working with or along side K9’s in an operational setting is advantageous but not necessary
  • Current K9 Handling Qualification advantageous but not necessary
