The Public Trustee and Guardian Act 1985 establishes the Public Trustee and GuardianInvestment Board (the Investment Board). The Investment Board's function is to advise the PTG on the investment of money that is from time to time in a common fund or otherwise in the hands of the PTG and available for investment. The Investment Board is advisory.
The Investment Board consists of the Public Trustee and Guardian (senior member) and at least two (2) other members appointed by the Minister. Members appointed by a Minister must be appointed for a term of not longer than three (3) years.
An Investment Board Member should have well-developed skills in any of the following disciplines:
- Actuarial
- Audit/Accounting
- Investment / Funds Management; or
- Financial Governance
and have the capacity and willingness to work effectively with other Board Members and the Public Trustee and Guardian as Senior Member.
High standards of integrity, impartiality and objectivity are required, as is an understanding of the dynamics of high-level investment and funds management.
Whilst appointment will be on the basis of expertise and suitability, the Public Trustee and Guardian seeks to maintain diversity of members of the Investment Board reflecting the diversity of the ACT community.
A person is not precluded from appointment due to their employment as a public servant.
