Our client is a privately owned and operated company, employing over 150 personnel, located at a state of the art facility in Canning Vale.
For the last 30+ years, they have manufactured purpose built pumping systems and water storage designed to their client’s requirements and specifications with a proven reputation of quality, reliability and service, supplying to a wide range of clients in the Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction, Heavy Industry and Utilities.
Working Days & Hours
- Monday to Friday (No Weekend Work)
- Start: 7:00 AM Finish: 3:30 PM
- Over Time: Generally, there is approximately 5 to 10 Hours of Overtime per week
The Role
Due to our client experiencing a large increase in their Pump Repair and Inspection Department we are seeking an experienced Pump Fitter to work on an on-going basis based at their Canning Vale workshop.
Our client has numerous departments based at their large workshop in Canning Vale that mainly are involved in the manufacture of their specialized equipment which include fabrication, mechanical assembly, electrical, testing and stores departments.
The Pump Repair and Inspection Department focuses on;
- Repair of our clients manufactured equipment – Warranty Repair or Standard Repair
- Repair of OEM pumping equipment
- Field Service – Metro & Site (Can be sporadic where majority of work is in Canning Vale workshop)
- Creating Detailed Technical Pump Reports that includes Pictures
- Warranty Claims
The work is a mix of;
- Workshop based activities
- Technical Reporting
- Field Service
The department is exposed to numerous pump types, brands and sizes which are used across numerous industries and generally are either Electrically Driven Pumps or Diesel Driven Pumps.
The pumps can range from
- Fire Fighting Pumps
- De-Watering Pumps
- Industrial Pumps
- Slurry Pumps
- Bore Pumps
- Water Treatment Pumps
- Chemical Dosing Pumps
- Clear Water - High Pressure Pumps
- Waste Water Pumps
The pump types will cover all types including;
- Centrifugal
- Multi Stage
- Submersible
- Bore
- Diaphragm
- Positive Displacement
- Valves – Most types – Ball, Gate, Butterfly etc
The workshop component is where you will spend the majority of your time and this will be standard pump repair with a focus on reporting and documentation.
The main responsibilities will include;
- Pump Strip Down
- Pump Inspection
- Diagnostic of pump fault or failure
- Taking Pictures throughput process
- Creating Bill of Materials / Parts Lists
- Ordering Pump Parts
- Rebuild Pump
- Pump Testing
As mentioned, reporting is large focus where reports can be up to 10 + pages and may include the following information;
- Inspection Report
- Diagnostic Report
- Parts List
- Pictures
- Man Hours – Estimates & Actuals
- Testing Report
If there are no pumps booked in for inspection the Pump Fitter will generally assist the Mechanical Assembly team that builds and assembles pump sets. This work will range across;
- Alignments of pumps to electric or diesel motors
- Pipe Fitting
- Fitting Valves
- Fitting Manifolds
The Candidate
We are seeking a trade qualified candidate that possess a mechanical trade such as;
- Pump Fitting
- Mechanical Fitting
- Fitter & Turner
- HD Fitter
- Diesel or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Apart from the trade the most important criteria will be the candidates mechanical and technical skills. We are seeking a candidate that considers themselves as a “Pump Fitter” who is technically orientated and takes pride in their pump knowledge and experience.
The successful candidate must possess;
- Pump Fitting - At least 3 to 5 years work experience where they were exposed to pump repair and rebuild regularly
Additionally, we are seeking candidates that possess;
- Be able to commit to Ongoing Work
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to create detailed reports
- Be able to work autonomously
- Possess initiative
- Be able to liaise in a professional manner to clients and in-house staff at all times
- Have a positive attitude
- Excellent time management skills
- Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Remuneration
This is a Temp to Perm role and depending on experience the following pay rates can be offered.
- $50.00 to $60.00 Per Hour
- + Over Time (After 8 Hours X1.5 / 10 + Hours X2)
- + Super
