Job description

Our Client is well established and in exciting growth phase with many opportunities in their market. 
They are a wholesaler, Importer and Manufacturer for the Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical trades with a focus on Passive Fire and technical support, mainly in commercial and high rise project applications.
It is a full time, long term position based their Sydney warehouse near Bankstown/Moorebank NSW, with bonus Incentives plus gain sharing as we grow as a company.
 This position requires;

An Experienced Purchasing & ProcurementTeam Leader with a great customer focus and a positive mindset. Help streamline their products, quality and supply chain for pick ready warehouses and help increase efficiencies and profitability. This role is part of a strategy to help take the company to new levels as part of it's growth trajectory.

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Manage all aspects of procurement, including supplier sourcing, price negotiation, product quality, ordering, inventory control, and delivery.
  • Develop and execute the strategic Purchasing/Procurement plan aligning with overall business performance goals, minimising supply chain risk.
  • Conduct market analysis and supplier evaluations to ensure competitiveness and reliability in the supply chain.
  • Develop and maintain clear quality control measures and product specification standards, particularly so for imported products.
  • Oversee all local purchasing through purchase order approval replenishment checks.
  • Manage all aspects of importing after Set up, product quality, ordering and freight forwarding and warehouse allocations.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with all vendors to secure favourable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues in a timely manner  to ensure monthly accounts are finalised in a timely manner.
  • Monitor suppliers and coordinate inventory control activities to ensure stock levels are maintained at a satisfactory level across warehouse locations.
  • Manage stock transfer between warehouse locations.
  • Consistently and regularly review and analyse stock levels and turnover. 
  • Analyse and create plan for products that aren’t moving. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs, so can better support and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify cost-saving opportunities and waste minimisation. 
  • Lead and provide support to direct reports. Cultivate a culture of accountability and customer focus within the team.
  • Resolve quality issues promptly put systems in place to address the future 
  • For new products and high volume items that will need to be imported in bulk plan warehouse space and logistics implications ahead of time.
  • Liaise with purchasing / importing Depts. to arrange for all products to be pick ready and streamline work flows.

The successful candidate will possess : 

  • Proven minimum 3+ experience in purchasing and procurement with strong knowledge of best practices of modern warehouse systems eg inventory management, Barcode picking packing, bin locations, stock position analysis. Background in Supply chain set up and principles an advantage.
  • Experience in coordinating & negotiating rates with third-party or freight forwarding logistics providers.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, good enough is not acceptable,  
  • A can-do, Level Headed, Positive Approach to all challenges and ability to make decisions directly or delegate/collaborate to get the job done. 
  • Team leadership skills to guide, train, support, systematise and run efficient regular Huddles or meetings for all purchasing related team.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and work with sales to make data-driven, practical, yet customer focused decisions that can have a positive impact on company profitability.
  • Know how to set up key performance indicators (KPIs & targets) for yourself and related teams in line with company objectives.
  • Excellent english communication so clear and easy to understand.
  • Possess interpersonal and management skills to collaborate effectively with across company internal teams and also external partners / suppliers.
