The Role
A key member of a medium sized team utilising a flat structure, you will assist in developing the technology strategy in the trading space and will function as a key intermediary between quantitative analytics and technology teams.
This involves acting as the SME and contributing towards implementing development standards and frameworks and migrating or re-building legacy applications using recommended technologies including Python, Snowflake and visualisation tools such as Tableau.
Some Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical development and support for critical systems in Energy Markets Technology and Commercial, aiding ongoing enhancements and new projects.
- Collaborate with quantitative analysts and traders to develop and support statistical and financial software solutions for risk modeling and market operations.
- Embed within the Energy and Financial Risk team on the trading floor, assisting in troubleshooting and deploying complex quantitative systems, and bridging between analytics and technology teams.
- Mentor analyst developers, prototype and develop software, support deployment, and contribute to technology strategy in the trading space.
- Design, enhance, and maintain solutions, support existing systems, lead new projects, implement development standards, and modernize legacy applications.
- University qualification in software engineering or a numerical discipline with strong programming component (e.g. statistics, mathematics, computational science, etc).
- Minimum 4yrs in a Development role using Python
- Intermediate quantitative knowledge including (but not limited to) numerical analysis, stochastic modelling and financial mathematics
- Certification in Database development highly desirable
- Ability to craft detailed technical manuals
- Ability to engage with stakeholders to gather requirements & apply business context to technical solutions
