Job description

Woodside Energy Australia have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join their team in Perth.

This position is responsible for the Quality Assurance process for drilling equipment, completion equipment, OCTG, and well test equipment for the GWS organization. 

The successful candidate will have in depth knowledge of the technical aspects of Quality Assurance and Control for manufacturing and service of drilling tools, completion tools and well testing equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that all equipment (manufactured and rental tools) required for well activities comply with GWS processes, procedures and standards, equipment and services contracts and regulatory commitments.
  • Develop Campaign Quality Management Plans, review and approve Supplier Quality Plans / Inspection Test Plans.
  • Plan and implement inspection activities (TPIs) to ensure GWS quality requirements are being achieved, and risk assess deviation requests.  Provides technical guidance to TPIs for troubleshooting and coaching at supplier facility.  Reviews all TPI reports for accuracy and compliance, and directs suppliers and TPIs on deficiency closeout and corrective actions (NCRs).
  • Investigate equipment failure and non-productive time (NPT) related incidents and identify causal factors and root cause.
  • Feedback across the GWS organisation to ensure learnings and best practices are captured and implemented in processes, hazard registers and procedures etc.
  • Participate in well design reviews, operational risk assessments, tool design reviews and HAZOPS, to ensure quality in design, risks, and opportunities.
  • Perform audits on key suppliers, documenting deficiencies and opportunities, and managing closeout of actions.
  • Contribute to ensure quality standards and requirements are embedded within tenders/contracts and contract management plans.
  • Contribute to the development of GWS quality management strategy.
  • Assist to develop and contribute to execute the maintenance strategy on Woodside owned equipment.
Requirements
  • 5+ years QA/QC experience within drilling & completion operations.
  • Knowledgeable with Oil & Gas industry quality and technical standards.
  • Knowledgeable in root cause investigation tools E.g., Taproot.
  • Familiar with local (Perth) suppliers Quality Management systems.
  • Knowledge with NDT or weld inspection 
  • Certified or experience auditor
  • Demonstrable ability to collaboratively with a variety of stake holders (D&C engineers, TPIs, suppliers) and manage conflict to a successful resolution.
