Employing over 120 staff across Australia, all cereal grains and pulses are sourced from growers across Australia. As the Quality Assurance Manager, you'll be based on-site in Smeaton and work closely with the leadership team to manage the end to end QA function. With two direct reports, this is a hands on role that will see you on the manufacturing floor working closely with the Plant Managers, Coordinators and Team Leaders to manage Unigrain's QA programs, accreditations and audits.
Your key areas of responsibility will include:
- Communicating and providing training regarding quality standards and parameters to all staff
- Managing existing, updating and implementing new QA standards, policies and procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of QA standards
- Managing the food safety and quality systems and ensuring compliance with the customer standards and quality systems (SQF, HACCP, FeedSafe, DAWR, Kosher, HALAL, NASAA organic)
- Overseeing the laboratory work including testing, analysis recording of results in accordance with policies and procedures
- Scheduling and overseeing the maintenance, adjustment and calibration of laboratory instruments, apparatus or testing devices
- Compiling data and reports regarding QA findings
- Project management of QA requirements for the development of new and existing manufacturing plants for existing and new products
This QA Manager role requires an experienced, autonomous QA professional who is a confident decision maker and can lead, inform and guide management regarding QA matters. Qualifications in a relevant discipline such as food technology, science or engineering combined with a proven background in a similar QA role, preferably within food manufacturing is essential.
You will also possess:
- A detailed understanding of SQF, HACCP and GMP. An understanding of FSANZ and other applicable labelling requirements will be highly regarded.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An eye for detail, be self sufficient and highly organised
- The ability to analyse data, create and review processes and systems
- Well developed leadership skills with a proven background in leading, managing, coaching and influencing team members
- A focus on delivering outcomes and getting the job done
