The Opportunity 

The CSBP Soil and Plant Laboratory is seeking a Quality Control Assistant to uphold quality standards in line with the Lab’s Quality Management System and to assist in delivering excellent customer service in our state of the art, high throughput laboratory. This role provides the opportunity to work both in the Quality Control department during seasonal peaks and on the lab floor, analysing soil and plant material outside of peak.  

Your Role: 

Working alongside the Lab’s Quality Control Officer and reporting to a Chemist, the key responsibilities of the Quality Control Assistant are: 

  • Review laboratory results in line with established procedures  
  • Raise quality issues and assist the laboratory operations team with troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions 
  • Liaise with customer service team to provide up to date information on sample status and estimated delivery timeframes 
  • Maintain the lab’s library of internal Quality Control standards 
  • Conduct and participate in audits as per the lab’s schedule and in line with ISO 17025 
  • Perform wet chemistry soil and plant analysis using lab instrumentation such as Flow Injection Analysers, Segmented Flow Analysers, Discrete Analysers, Autotitrators and Combustion analysers 

About You: 

Experience working in a wet chemistry laboratory 

  • High attention to detail 
  • Strong customer focus 
  • Effective communicator 
  • Enjoys solving problems and identifying improvements 
  • Experience using LIMS and proficient in use of Microsoft excel.
