New Metal Surfaces is an industry leader in surface engineering, providing thermal spraying and machining services to various industries in Australia.
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector/Controller to join our production team in our Kewdale workshop. The position will be a combined workshop and office-based role. You will report to the Production Supervisor and Production Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspect Incoming Jobs: Inspect jobs upon arrival and provide relevant information and feedback to the quoting team to ensure accurate job assessments.
- Perform final inspections on all components to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications. Ensure that all outgoing components adhere to drawing specifications.
- Identify defects, or non-conformances and investigate/take corrective actions as required. Work closely with production staff to identify and resolve quality issues on time.
- Raise non-conformance reports for any parts that fail inspection.
- Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, including test results, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports. Send any relevant reports to applicable customers.
- Assist in maintaining ISO or other relevant certifications and participate in internal and external audits.
- Assist in organising and maintaining the dispatch area to ensure efficient workflow and storage of inspected parts.
- Assist with the dispatch team to ensure timely and accurate shipment of jobs.
Qualifications & experience required:
- Trade Qualification in Fitting and Machining with experience in an engineering or mining-related industry.
- Preferable qualification: Forklift and Dogging Licence.
- Proven experience in a similar role.
Skills required:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment such as verniers, and micrometres.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Able to lift and move objects.
- Capable to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Able to perform precise inspection work.
