As Sky News’ Queensland Political Reporter, you will help set the political agenda in Queensland. Joining Sky News’ award-winning political team, you will break stories and highlight the impact of decision making on Queenslanders.You will have a genuine interest in state politics and good working knowledge of the Australian political scene, especially in the lead up to the Queensland state election. You will have the ability to report live in a dynamic 24-hour news environment while also writing and preparing packages and other news content.Key ResponsibilitiesReport on Queensland politics and the impact of political decision makingAbility to report liveAttend news conferences, conduct interviews and newsgather on political issuesWork closely with the Queensland team and liaise with senior editorial staff in Sydney to decide upon news coverage.Be able to broadcast live at short notice.Build and maintain a network of contacts to enable you to break political stories.Capacity to shoot, write and present news stories from start to finish, on a daily basis (training provided on operating a video journalist kit)File for digital platforms.Pitch original news stories and ideas.Be able to cover other news stories outside of politics where requestedEnsure all content meets legal requirements, including consultation with pre-publication lawyers.Who are you?Minimum of 3 years television reporting experienceGood news judgement with experience in live and breaking newsExcellent time management skills, the ability to multitask and work to strict deadlinesAttention to detail and strong technical understandingAbility to work independentlyAbility to write engaging, accurate and crisp copy, quickly, and under pressure News BenefitsNews Benefits is our way of saying thank you to our people for their valued contribution to News, our audiences, clients and communities.
