Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club – Racecourse/Track Manager Position Opportunity Overview The Racecourse Manager will manage and maintain the racetrack, training facilities and course grounds to a high standard. This includes the ongoing maintenance of the course proper, training tracks, stable complex, and grounds at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club. The successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring the racecourse is presented in the best possible condition and will suit an experienced person who is passionate about track maintenance (sand and turf). This role is a full-time position. Essential Job Functions: • Prepare, manage and review the daily operations of the Tracks and Grounds. • Ensure that the racetrack is prepared and ready for conduct of race meetings as required. • Plan and manage rail movements during the race season. • Plan and manage renovation of the racetrack during the off-season. • Ensure maintenance of reticulation systems. • Plan and manage implementation of fertilizer programs. • Plan and manage overall maintenance of the racing surface during the race season. • Coordinating and supervise activities for barrier set up on race days, and barrier trials. • Setting daily, weekly and monthly priorities regarding track maintenance in conjunction with the clubs’ guidelines • Making recommendations on improvements or innovations relating to track maintenance, grounds, training and stable operations. Essential Requirements • It is essential to the role of Racecourse Manager that the person be available on each day that the Club hosts a race meeting or feature event. • The Racecourse Manager is required to work as part of the management team and assist in the preparation and co-ordination of feature events for the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Race Club. • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety Standards are maintained. Desirable Requirements: • Turf management experience in the maintenance of equine racing and training surfaces. • Supervisory skills and the ability to coordinate and motivate team members. • Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills would be beneficial. • General operational and mechanical maintenance knowledge or experience. • Working knowledge and understanding of the relevant WHS guidelines. • Sound literacy and numeracy skills.
