- Experienced Radiation Technician/Safety Officer

ALARA Health Physics Services is a privately-owned full services health physics provider headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. We focus on all phases of radiation safety and management including high-consequence material, difficult-to-transport sources and wastes, oil-industry projects, and radiation source management from acquisition to disposal.
We seek a Radiation & Logistics Technician to join our team on a full-time basis in Perth, with anticipated work in remote or offshore locations primarily within Western Australia for project fieldwork.
The role requires conducting project work, providing technical advice, and contributing to Alara's growth in health physics services and logistics services. To effectively fulfil the position's responsibilities, site visits across Australia and the region are required.
Applicants must have at least 2 years of experience as a radiation technician or safety officer. A relevant scientific tertiary qualification is preferred.
Applicants will also have:
- Completion of applicable Radiation Safety training from appropriately accredited training providers.
- Experience working on remote sites or offshore locations.
- Medically able to participate in and successfully complete TBOSIET qualification.
- Obtained or a willingness to undergo a background security identity check for a Maritime Safety Induction Card.
- The capability to select suitable radiation monitors for the types, energies, and intensity of the radiation intended to be measured, including the measurement quantity, e.g. dose rate, count rate, etc.
- A history of working extended shift patterns on remote operational sites.
- The ability to demonstrate effective remote collaboration and manage communication across different time zones.
- Experience working remotely without direct supervision from a line manager.
- Manage projects within specified timeframes and in accordance with business standards, and handling project tasks such as job creation, site work, data analysis, reporting, and client liaison.
- Interpret and execute Radiation Management Plans, operate radiation instruments, conduct surveys, distribute monitors, and provide training.
- Supervise storage, transport, and waste disposal of radioactive material and coordinate the receipt, delivery, and monitoring of consignments.
- Maintain accurate records of radiation measurements, inspections, and incidents, and manage inventory and prepare reports.
- Stay aware of relevant regulations, ensure compliance, and address deviations or non-compliance promptly.
- Communicate effectively with clients, generate quotations, and identify revenue opportunities.
A salary of $120,000 + superannuation guarantee will be offered to the successful applicant.
