The Ranger Coordinator plays a pivotal role in coordinating and overseeing the management of the Native Title Land's Djungan ranger program. They will work closely with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and governing bodies to ensure the effective implementation of conservation, land management, and cultural heritage protection initiatives. The Ranger Coordinator will lead a team of rangers, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure the successful execution of on-ground activities while fostering community engagement and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Coordination:
- Implement strategic plans for the Djungan ranger program.
- Manage operations, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
- Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and traditional owners.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of rangers.
- Foster a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Conservation & Land Management:
- Oversee biodiversity conservation, fire management, and weed control.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and cultural protocols.
- Integrate traditional ecological knowledge into strategies.
- Cultural Heritage Protection:
- Identify and protect culturally significant sites and artifacts.
- Develop protocols for cultural heritage preservation.
- Facilitate cultural awareness training.
- Community Engagement:
- Build relationships with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
- Facilitate community consultations and workshops.
- Communicate program objectives and achievements.
- Demonstrated experience in natural resource management, conservation, or related fields, preferably in Indigenous or remote communities.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within cross-cultural contexts. Safety and risk mitigation. Fire Response.
- Knowledge of Indigenous land management practices, cultural protocols, and traditional ecological knowledge systems.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication, including report writing, public speaking, and community engagement.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, Indigenous studies, natural resource management, or a related discipline.
- Current driver's license and willingness to travel to remote locations as required.
