MIDDAY ON FRIDAY, 7 JUNE 2024Job DescriptionUnder the immediate direction of the Senior Ranger Marine Vessels Master:

  • Carries out programmed operational activities related to departmental vessels operating in the West Kimberley district; including participating in marine park patrols for the purposes of raising public understanding of marine park values, regulations, compliance, management intervention, research and monitoring.
  • Assists with the implementation of marine and coastal annual works programs.
  • Implements programs consistent with management plans, interim guidelines, policies, prescriptions and other departmental guidelines.
Selection CriteriaApplicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total. * Good interpersonal skills and experience in liaising with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, Indigenous groups and other stakeholders, with a preference for experience in the Kimberley Region, working with Aboriginal people to deliver traditional owner aspirations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, show initiative and to work unsupervised. Ability and willingness to work in remote areas, work weekends and public holidays as required, and undertake extended periods of travel in remote locations.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation and logistics of large vessels up to 24m in length, with engines up to 500 kw with particular emphasis on the delivery of periodic, scheduled and preventative maintenance, requiring and holding a current Cert III Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 certificate of competency; with a preference for someone holding such a certificate.
