Rapid Response Operations Officer (Street and Beach Services)

  • Permanent full-time roles based at our South Melbourne Depot
  • Salary Range Band 3 $71,848 - $75,740 (Annualised salary inc. allowances & leave loading) plus 11% Superannuation
  • Hours of Work Mon–Fri, 7.30am - 3.00pm with a weekend and public holiday overtime roster

About the Role

Our Street and Beach Services team seeks an energetic team player who has a strong customer service approach and communication skills to deliver quality Rapid Response cleaning services to the Port Phillip community with a focus on providing prompt operational results across the city. The successful candidate will support the Supervisors, Local Laws Officers, and Victorian Police to deliver the ongoing cleaning program of the city's streets, commercial areas, and beaches. The Rapid Response Operations Officer will be directly responsible for maintaining high standards of responsive works and programmed services to the community, complaint management and customer service ensuring performance standards are achieved. 

Proven experience within a similar labouring/cleaning industry undertaking quick turnaround services to ensure the city remains safe for all community members and visitors is most desirable. Weekend and public holiday work will be required on a roster basis.

Duties:

  • Operation of all equipment required to complete tasks including but not limited to industrial vacuums, pressure cleaners, blowers, hand rakes, shovels and brooms
  • Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, digging, raking, sweeping and using mechanical tools 
  • Maintain roads, streets, beaches and drains within the municipality of Port Phillip
  • Remove and clean biohazards to ensure public safety
  • Remove and collect dump hard waste and rubbish throughout the city

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in an operational outdoor labouring role 
  • Knowledge and experience in application of safe Manual Handling Techniques and Occupational Health and Safety standards including safe and competent operation of heavy licence vehicle
  • Good oral, verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Extensive experience in providing service response to customer request

Mandatory Requirements

  • Pre employment medical check and Functional Capability Evaluation
  • Victorian Driver Licence, Medium Rigid Vehicle Licence and Vic Roads Verification 

Security requirements and professional obligations

  • Evidence of mandatory qualifications/registrations/licences
  • Sufficient proof of their right to work in Australia
  • Sufficient proof of their identity
  • Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination or valid medical exemption in line with City of Port Phillip Vaccination Policy 
  • Complete a National Police Check completed via City of Port Phillip’s Provider.
  • Be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check (at the cost of the council)
