Tennyson Centre Day Surgery is part of the Nexus Hospitals group. We employ over 1600 talented and passionate people across 27 hospitals, as well as 3 support offices.
Tennyson Centre Day Hospital is a purpose-built day surgery with two operating theatres, three procedure rooms and recovery. We specialise in Ophthalmology, Urology, Minor Plastic Surgery, Oral Surgery, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
About the Role
Our Medical Clerical Assistant (as the role is internally known), provides administrative support to various teams within the hospital. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Welcoming patients and ensuring they feel comfortable and at ease.
- Admitting patients on their day of surgery
- Pre-admit bookings as directed
- Answer incoming calls, action emails, and sort mail
- Prepare patient admission files and conduct health fund checks
- Send SMS reminders, data entry, and filing
- Order and maintain stationery and office supplies
- Liaise with external stakeholders and providers, e.g. building manager, contractors, specialists’ rooms
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, e.g. employees, managers, nursing staff
- Assist patients and visitors with all queries and requests
- Attend to other general administration duties as required
About you:
You have a genuine passion for customer service and creating an outstanding experience for patients. You will have and demonstrate:
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner
- Ability to show initiative, prioritise workloads and multitask
- Enthusiasm, willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and a positive approach
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to offer effective working relationships across a broad range of staff
- Ability to work independently and within a supportive team
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, computer literacy, and proficient data entry skills
- Previous experience in healthcare/hospital administration would be an advantage
