Cobram Estate Olives Limited (CBO) is searching for a Refinery Operator to join the team. Work as a team and at time autonomously ensuring the refinery is running smoothly and product is accounted for. This role entails a mix of shift work, weekend work and day shifts. We are looking for someone who is open to variety and can accommodate a flexible roster.

The Role

The position will be based at CBO’s head office in Lara and report to the Refinery Manager. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following activities:

  • Learn and operate the refining process in a safe and efficient manner independently.
  • Monitor and control the process, testing the various products and responding to various alarms. Investigate and problem solve issues.
  • Complete minor maintenance tasks and ensure accurate documentation including QA checks on goods. 
  • Undertake inventory control, including regular stocktakes and maintaining appropriate stock levels of all consumables and finished goods. 
  • Ensure all oil is maintained to the highest possible standard, including the regular cleaning of tanks and associated pipework.
  • Undertake the loading and unloading of bulk oil shipments via tankers, pallecons and drums.
  • Fill bulk oil orders for customers in pallecons and drums.
  • Ensure oil is available in the day tanks for daily production.
  • Develop an ongoing appreciation of quality requirements and monitor these standards in carrying out duties. This will include the ability to complete ‘oil shipment records and associated documents to ensure compliance to company quality standards;
  • Observe all Company rules and regulations regarding work practices and codes of conduct, in particular Food Safety, Occupational Health & Safety and Continuous Improvement.

Skills & Experience

The role will suit someone who shows initiative and understands the importance of following procedures. No previous experience in a similar role is required however the successful candidates will be reliable and hardworking coupled with the following attributes.

  • Previous experience following processes and procedures. Experience within a food environment preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with fluid transfer or in a winery environment highly desirable but not essential.
  • Current forklift license advantageous– we can support the successful candidate in obtaining this if required!
  • A strong commitment to workplace health & safety.
  • A strong and demonstrated work ethic.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn with a "can do" attitude.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Physically capable for work duties within the facility.
  • Ability to work autonomously or part of a team.
  • Flexible working hours and occasional overtime may be required – weekend work also required.
  • A willingness to keep skills updated and willingness to undertake training.
  • Be prepared to undertake training in relation to the tasks you are performing.
