About the role

We are looking for a Regional Lead APAC (Australia East and Asia) to join the Triage and Assessment team of our global Business Conduct Office ("BCO"); a team of caring and dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes to support, manage and promote myVoice, Rio Tinto's confidential whistleblowing programme.

Your role will work with key stakeholders to foster a strong culture that encourages active and fearless speaking up and fairness and transparency in the management of reports of misconduct in the workplace.

Reporting to the Manager-Triage and Assessment and working in a collaborative and fast paced environment, you will be responsible for:

  • Timely triage and assessment of concerns received through various myVoice channels, including performing risk assessment, ascertaining whether whistleblower protections apply, categorizing conduct by issue type and severity, and determining the relevant assignee (Investigations, Care hub Support partners or Subject matter experts) or referral point for ongoing management of the report
  • Engagement of the reporters and case closure as required in accordance with the BCO end to end triage and assessment process
  • Following up with the Business Stakeholders in relation to disciplinary outcomes following an investigation
  • Quality control activities to ensure that records are maintained and managed appropriately in accordance with the BCO end to end triage & assessment, Investigation and Care hub processes
  • Support of case management administration activities
  • Ambassadors for the myVoice program and BCO, including presenting at roadshows, townhalls, product group and asset leadership teams and supporting regular awareness campaigns and training relating to the myVoice procedure and global whistleblowing requirements
  • Providing bespoke training and support to human resources team or in-country nominated recipients of concerns
  • Leading projects in relation to the alignment of the BCO process with regional whistleblowing and leading or assisting with project workstreams (including platform replacement) as appropriate
  • Assisting Manager - Triage and Assessment to assess appropriateness of and responding to requests for information from auditors (internal and external) and regulators as appropriate.
  • Providing advice and information to Ethics & Compliance in line with process
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the Manager -Triage and Assessment

What you'll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Genuine interest in whistleblowing/compliance and trauma informed confidential reporting process
  • Degree level (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Background in either law, investigations, compliance and governance, forensic accounting, finance, auditing or employee relations/human resources
  • Experience of handling sensitive information; maintaining confidentiality and good understanding of data privacy
  • Excellent active listening and communication skills
  • Great written communication skills, ability to present data and speak to trends in an efficient and comprehensive manner
  • Ability to deliver and implement change in a complex, networked/matrix global organisation across multiple countries and cultures
  • A great team worker who is flexible and collaborative and able to manage stakeholders across the organisation
  • A passion for continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to enhance the reporting programme/experience for reporters
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Additional languages (such as French and Mongolian are highly considered).

The BCO complies with Rio Tinto's code of conduct (The Way We Work), myVoice procedure and applicable Rio Tinto policies, procedures and standards. The team has responsibility for myVoice, Rio Tinto's whistle-blowing program, and is committed to ensure a supportive and caring felt experience to impacted individuals and reporters.
