Your Role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital You will take time with their patients and their families supporting them through every step of their journey to being a parent. Our midwives are dedicated to providing all aspects of pregnancy, birth and postnatal care in our antenatal clinics and services, on our maternity wards and in birth suites, in addition to care for our babies in our special care nurseries. Our maternity and neonatal facilities are some of the finest in the country and we offer comprehensive parent education to give you everything for new parents. The PositionResponsible for providing the necessary care to meet the identified needs of a patient on the ante and post-natal ward and general ward allocated to his/her care.Interview and examine the patient, document the assessment findings.Whilst promoting an environment of confidence, confidentiality and respect, identify through discussion with the patient, family and relevant others, actual and potential problems.Assess and document the anticipated needs of the pregnant woman and family during and following hospitalisation.Perform the planned nursing care, setting priorities and re-establishing priorities in changing circumstances.Routinely review the results of diagnostic procedures and investigations.Systematically evaluate and document the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions and report significant findings promptly.Communicate changes in the patient's health status to relevant health professionals during normal routine ward rounds and as the need arises.Plan and document requirements necessary to facilitate a patients discharge.Plan and deliver post-natal exercises and education.Provide domiciliary midwifery visits to families as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager. You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife and demonstrated knowledge of current midwifery practices and trends, including Trends in infant nutrition.
