The Adult Acute Mental Health Unit (AMHU) provides multidisciplinary inpatient care through specialist assessment, clinical interventions and treatment services.
The Registered Nurse provides evidenced based individualised patient care. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care in collaboration with individual clients and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve goals and health outcomes.
This position is appointed to the Adult Mental Health Unit and may be required to work from a number of District Mental Health Service sites, or in a comparable mental health position. Movement through service components may be facilitated through in the Health Service 1:1 conversation process, or to meet service requirements following consultation with the employee.
It must be noted that shift work applies over a seven (7) day rotating roster including weekends and Public Holidays. This position will require nurses to undertake manual handling tasks that include pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, reaching above shoulder height and reaching to the floor. There is a requirement for the successful candidate to be able to complete the high-risk Occupational Violence Prevention (OVP) that contains both theoretical and physical requirements.

- Contemporary clinical knowledge in the area of community mental health nursing, delivering competent nursing care in complex situations while providing support to other team members.
- Ability to provide patient and family centred care to the patient using best practice and within the standard of practice of a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to communicate to a high standard effectively and engage with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors whilst displaying a high level of professional nursing care.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Ability to provide clinical education and support.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
