Job description

The role:

The Registered Nurse - Community Mental Health:

  • Consistent with ongoing experience, strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals and community sector organisations within the defined community practice area. 
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high quality Mental Health services, provides a specialist Mental Health service within the community setting for a designated client group utilising evidence based practices and recovery principles.
  • In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluates patient/client care.
  • Practice in accordance with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) codes and guidelines for Registered Nurses and midwives.
  • Acts as a Mental Health Officer when required

The Team: The Glenorchy Continuing Care Team is a small and friendly multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, nurses, allied health and lived experience workers. We cover a large catchment area from the Central highlands, Derwent Valley, Brighton municipality and the City of Glenorchy.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term part time, day worker position working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 6 months.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar part time vacancies.

Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  2. Current Driver’s Licence
  3. Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Possess specialist tertiary graduate or postgraduate Mental Health/psychiatric nursing qualification
