About the role
We are seeking an ECT Support Nurse/Group Program Nurse - which is an exciting joint role - to work at Upton House a 25 bed Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit located at Box Hill Hospital.
The Group Program Nurse is responsible for the coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation of a recovery focussed and evidence based therapeutic program for consumers with support from the multidisciplinary team. They will provide consumers with education and information regarding recovery from mental illness, support strategies to manage behaviours and/or symptoms, recreational interest development, relaxation and stress management techniques. The Group Program Nurse will work collaboratively and in partnership with consumers, carers, staff and external stakeholders to identify the therapeutic needs of consumers to assist in the development of the recovery focussed Group Program. The role will work closely with the Occupational Therapist and will include all elements of the Safewards model of care in planning and implementation of groups.
The ECT Support Nurse will work closely with the ECT coordinator and ANUM to ensure consumers are prepared for treatment in a timely and safe manner, paperwork is satisfactorily completed, consumers are safely transported to and from treatment and that care is provided post treatment in accordance with post anaesthetic direction / protocol. The ECT Support Nurse will ensure a handover is provided to staff upon return to Upton House and also document interactions the clinical file (it will be the responsibility of the ECT coordinator to document in the file regarding the consumer’s treatment). The ECT Support Nurse will ensure the consumer receives 2 hour post observations, a meal and prescribed medication on return to the ward.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA
- Post Graduate qualifications relevant to the position
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
