Northeast Health Wangaratta is recruiting for Registered Nurses Grade 2 with demonstrated experience in paediatric nursing to complement and enhance our recently established stand alone Paediatric Unit. Permanent and temporary hours available

The Paediatric Registered Nurse will provide safe, compassionate, quality, person centred care and work in collaboration with patients/families/carers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.

Northeast Health Wangaratta has recently undergone major redevelopment which has included a brand new state of the art 8 – 10 bed Paediatric Unit. It is the main public referral centre for the Alpine and Hume region. The Paediatric Unit provides care for infants through to adolescent children, aged 0-18. Our services include medical, surgical and mental health care and incorporate a surgical pre-admission clinic and paediatric review clinics into the model of care. We also work collaboratively with Hospital In The Home and Paediatric Integrated Cancer Services. 

Wangaratta is a city with a population of 28,000 located on the Hume freeway just 2.5 hours from Melbourne, 6 hours from Sydney and 2 hours to the major ski fields Buller, Hotham and Falls Creek. Wangaratta is the hub to the gourmet food and wineries of the King Valley, Ovens Valley and Rutherglen district. The train allows easy access to Melbourne, Albury and Sydney. Albury is the closest domestic airport. 

The region offers a relaxed lifestyle with all the necessary services without the hustle and bustle of the city. There is a range of different school options for all ages as well as a GO TAFE facilities, Charles Sturt University in Albury and Latrobe University in Wodonga and Shepparton. NHW also partners with Melbourne University offering postgraduate options within the Paediatric Nursing Field.

We have a strong focus on professional development with several education programs arranged on site throughout the year and training opportunities in collaboration with the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.
