Our Journey
- The Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre provides an inpatient sleep study service, an outpatient home oximetry service, a non-invasive ventilation service and an apnoea monitoring service. The sleep study service performs over 1,400 sleep studies on paediatric patients each year.
- The Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre is staffed by consultant sleep and respiratory paediatricians, sleep scientists and nurses experienced in the diagnosis and management of all paediatric sleep disorders.
- Monash Health is excited to announce a Paediatric Sleep Nurse position available in the Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre.
Dedicated paediatric sleep unit operating Monday to Friday evenings
- Play a key role in providing excellent patient care - monitoring paediatric patients attending for assessment of sleep disorders and adequacy of treatments, and/or analysis of the paediatric sleep studies.
Enviable work environment within a dynamic team
A Day in the Life
- The Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre operates Monday to Friday evenings, with a set roster based on a fortnightly template.
- Evening set-up shifts are from 6.15pm - 10.45pm (4.5 hrs), and duties involve the application of sensors and beginning recording for continuous overnight monitoring of paediatric patients undergoing overnight sleep studies.
- Overnight shifts are from 10.30pm - 07.30am (9 hrs), and duties involve the continuous overnight monitoring of paediatric patients undergoing overnight sleep studies, removal and cleaning of all sensors the following morning.
We are excited to offer the following shifts to a Paediatric Sleep Scientist / Nurse within the Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre at Monash Children's Hospital, Clayton:
PERMANENT: up to 3 overnight shifts (27 hours) per fortnight
- Week 1:

- Overnight Tuesday
FIXED TERM (22/07/2024 - 20/07/2025): up to 2 overnight shifts (18 hrs) and 5 evening shifts (22.5 hrs) per fortnight

- Evening Set-up Friday

About You
- You are a Registered Nurse who is adept at working with varied monitoring equipment and software systems.
- You have paediatric nursing experience
- You thrive working in a dynamic team and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based care to all patients.
- You are an advocate of Monash Health's Strategic Guiding Principles.
- You are also:
- Dedicated to safe best practice and quality care
- Committed to delivering patient centred care and advocating for your patients
- Enthusiastic, compassionate and able to work collaboratively.
What you need:
- Relevant qualifications (Registered Nurse Degree/equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience in paediatric nursing
