Our Surgical Ward is a dynamic 18-bed unit located within Central Gippsland Health’s main campus in Sale. We also operate the Hospital in the Home (HITH) program, offering excellent career progression and opportunities for growth and development.

CGH delivers acute care through an integrated service model across the Wellington Shire, with facilities in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield. Our services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology, dialysis, and general medical services, as well as sub-acute services like rehabilitation.
As a leading teaching hospital affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health, CGH provides placements and clinical experience for students.
Duties
- Work across all shifts including weekends, nights and public holidays.
- Build strong relationships with patients to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient conditions, particularly deterioration, and document changes in care plans.
- Manage competing priorities and respond to urgent clinical needs.
- Report safety, quality of care, and risk concerns to the in-charge nurse.
- Support and adhere to organizational policies and procedures, ensuring clinical standards are consistently met.
- Inform the in-charge nurse of any practices that may affect the delivery of high-quality patient care.
