-You can view and print these PDF attachments by downloading .This is a permanent full time vacancy.ABOUT THE ROLEThis position performs the functions and duties and exercises the powers of a registrar as provided for in the District Court Court Act 1969 (WA), the Rules of the Court, various other Acts and as delegated by the Chief Judge or Principal Registrar. Examples of these functions include:

  • Undertaking case management of civil, criminal and appeal matters.
  • Hearing and determining interlocutory applications.
  • Mediating civil and criminal cases.
  • Taxing bills of costs.
  • Undertaking research and analysis of legal and operations issues.
  • Assisting with organisation and continuous improvement of the Court.
  • Preparing draft Practice Directions where required.
ELIGIBILITYApplicants must be a Barrister or Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia or qualified so as to be eligible for admission in Western Australia and must have a minimum of five years (5) post admission experience.ABOUT YOUWe are seeking a Legal Practitioner with extensive knowledge of the Rules of the Supreme Court 1971, District Court Rules 2005, Criminal Procedure Rules 2005 together with a comprehensive knowledge of the general law.All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.ABOUT JUSTICEWhen you join the Department of Justice, you become part of a people-focused organisation, working hard to make our community a fairer and safer place to live.
