The Position:An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join a highly proficient department as Emergency Medicine Registrar. This position will serve as a Medical Practitioner in the primary referral hospital for the region, which translates to encounters with high-acuity cases and a diverse range of clinical experiences.The hospital has an annual attendance of 45,000 with a 30-40% admission rate and approximately 20% paediatric caseload.The hospital prioritises the professional development of its Registrars by allocating 4 hours of paid protected teaching time every week. These sessions are thoughtfully designed to cater to all stages of emergency registrar training. This includes monthly specialized paediatric teaching sessions, as well as opportunities to engage in training within our state-of-the-art simulation centre.The site boasts a comprehensive array of major specialties, including a fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with the capability for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) support. Additionally, it offers round-the-clock cardiac interventional angiography services. Consultants are actively involved in providing direct clinical supervision to the department, offering their expertise from 8:00 am until midnight, seven days a week. Furthermore, an on-call service is readily available for support outside of these regular hours.The Location:Nestled just a short drive from the picturesque coastline, this hospital is situated in one of Australia's oldest cities, offering a breathtakingly scenic environment. The bustling Emergency Department, equipped with 43 treatment beds, accommodates an annual influx of over 45,000 patients and maintains an admission rate of 35%. This accredited hospital maintains a close-knit partnership with the University of Tasmania through its clinical school.Eligibility (at least one of the below):1. General, Provisional or limited registration with AHPRA2. IMG’s that have completed at least the AMC MCQ (part 1) or completed both AMC 1 & 2 (clinical exam)3. IMG’s eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada or Ireland)4. IMG’s assessed by ACEM College as partially or substantially comparable (doctors currently interviewing with ACEM may express their interest)5. IMG’s interested in foreign training via the Short Term training specialist pathway (STT)6.
