Job description

The role:
  • Daily management of the Surgical Unit’s patients and clinical activities within the limits specified with your clinical privileges.
The Team:
  • Broad exposure to General Surgery including operating, emergencies and clinic.
  • The role is well supported clinically with additional teaching and research opportunities.
  • Rotation through 3 speciality teams - Breast/Endocrine, Colorectal and Upper GI/Hepatobiliary.
  • The welcoming community surrounding the Hospital consists of natural scenery garnished with wineries, markets and distilleries and entertaining world class outdoor activities.
  • Close contact with consultant staff.
  • Limited evenings and weekends on call.

Details of Appointment:
  • Fixed Term, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 15 April 2024 until 2 February 2025
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary:

Registrars

Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $131,000 - $183,500 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. Crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
